Services

FIN-NSW provides an information and advice telephone line. The telephone number is 0405 019 450 (M). The advice line is staffed by persons who know about the NSW Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998, the NSW Adoption Act 2000, the Children's Court, Legal Aid and the working of the child protection system. Parent and family members who are involved with the Department of Family and Community Services, Community Services division can get useful information from this advice line.

The hours of operation are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. No service on public holidays. Contact with the advice line early in Children's Court proceeding is advisable.

Submissions

FIN-NSW as part of it's advocacy role makes submission to various government inquiries. Future submissions will be posted to this site.

  • 2009 - Submission to the National Human Rights consultation.

  • 2011 - Submission to the Senate Community Affairs Committee on Forced Adoption

    • This second submission can be downloaded from the Senate Committee website via the Federal Parliament website.

  • 2013 - Submission was made in response to the 2012 Legislative Reform paper issued by the Department of Family and Community Services.

    • This third submission is available on request.
